SÖHNGEN: Sterile dressings with twenty-year shelf-life
The standard literature and references summarise the current situation with regard to sterility as follows:
Loss of sterility is event- rather than time-related. In other words; products become non-sterile when the packaging is opened or damaged.
Sterile dressings manufactured by SÖHNGEN® are labelled with the logo of the certification authority (CE mark), the year and month of production, the batch number and guarantee a shelf-life period of 20 years - assuming that the packaging remains “unopened or undamaged”.
W. Söhngen manufactures its sterile dressings in its own plant in Germany, employing state-of-the-art clean room technology and certified processes which are regularly reviewed by the British Standards Institution, the local German authority and the Institut Fresenius. Microbiologists analyse every sterilised batch prior to release and subject packaging and contents of samples that have been exposed to natural and accelerated stress conditions to regular testing.

Our SÖHNGEN plaster range Detectable is designed to be used to protect skin injuries in cases in which the above-specified requirements stipulate that penetration by foreign bodies is to be avoided.
The central fabric cushion is made of a polyester/viscose material in which an aluminium strip has been incorporated. This means that the plasters can be readily and reliably detected using a metal detector. The blue colouration also ensures that they are also clearly visible.
To prevent adhesion with the wound, the plasters also have a protective polypropylene fabric layer. The Detectable range of dressings is not only extremely skin-friendly, but is also hypoallergenic and breathable.
In addition to the plaster dispenser and the special frequent use sets for use by health care professionals, Detectable plasters are also available by the metre and in the form of special sets.
